Charlie Jones has a peaceful summer in mind ... plenty of fishing and sailing and reading before he leaves the Vineyard for college and the start of another football season.

Then things start cropping up and once again Charlie finds himself in the middle of what amounts to a war, which for a while, explodes with action and danger. Even an ordinary sailing race in the family J/24 turns out to be anything but.
